Overview:
This
course provides a working knowledge of Broadwin's
WebAccess HMI & SCADA software package. It teaches
basic SCADA and HMI topics including Graphics Building
(DRAW), Symbols, Widgets, Animation, Database
Configuration, Tags and Blocks, Device Driver
configuration, Data Logging, Alarm Handling and
Security. It also covers software installation, Web
server basics (IIS) and customizing VIEW for Web
browsers.
Who
should Attend:
Engineers,
maintenance, and support personnel required to setup and
maintain a Broadwin's WebAccess HMI/SCADA system. This
course is designed for system integrators, engineers and
technicians who are new to Broadwin
WebAccess software.
Prerequisites:
A
working knowledge of Microsoft® Windows® program
interface along with a working knowledge of PLC or DCS I/O addressing, and fundamental
DCS or PLC programming
concepts. User
level knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional,
2003, XP
Professional or Vista Business is preferred. Familiarity with a
IE 6.0 or IE 7.0 Web browser and Windows 98 is a minimum
requirement. Familiarity with automation, control
and your application would also be helpful. Sketches, logo bitmaps and DXF files (AutoCAD release 13
compatible) of planned graphic
displays are useful.
Objectives:
- Upon completion of the
course, students will be able to:
- Create a new
project.
- Modify an existing
project.
- Configure Ethernet and
serial communications.
- Create a 'Runtime'
version of the application.
- Add or modify basic
elements such as graphic displays, tags, etc.
- Create animation and
simple scripting.
(NOTE: Advanced scripting and database applications
are outside the scope of this training. )
- Add or modify alarms,
recipes and reports to the application.
- Configure and execute
data logging and execute data logging
capabilities.
- Control security
levels.
- Design screens using
multi-state switches, analog meters, bar graphs, and
text messaging functions.
- Assign real-time data
(tags) to screen objects.
- Import tag data from
an EXCEL spreadsheet.
- Include pop-up windows
and Display Groups for display flexibility.

Class Schedule
Classes in San Ramon, California generally
start at 9:00 a.m. each day and end at approximately
6:30 p.m. The schedule is designed to cover a
large amount of information in as few days as possible
in order to reduce the impact on running your business. When making travel plans, please allow enough time
so the entire duration of the course can be attended.
Both facilities are about 35 miles from downtown San
Francisco. It is
recommended to stay near the training facility.
Visits to the city (San Francisco) are easily made during evening
hours (a fast reverse commute) or during the preceding
weekend.
Course Materials
Our instructors provide students with the skills and material
to immediately begin development of automation projects using
Broadwin WebAccess HMI and SCADA software.
Students are encouraged to bring sketches, graphics and
tag databases from real automation projects.
The benefit of attending a class with our experienced
instructors is to significantly reduced time and cost in
developing your next automation application.

Broadwin
Technology Inc. training courses are available for delivery at
your location. On-Site training is subject to the
following general requirements:
- A training facility that is normally used for training
purposes is required.
- Each student must be provided with an appropriate
computer, with Windows 2000 (SP4 or better) or Windows XP
Professional (SP 2 or better) pre-installed, 256MB RAM
minimum, CD reader and Ethernet NIC.
- A Hub or Switch and network cabling .
- A high quality screen projector is required.
