Sumitomo integrates Building Management Systems with WebAccess
BMS is a system for facilities automation and building management using web based HMI and SCADA software from Broadwin Technology.

July 31, 2002 - San Ramon, California

Sumitomo Densetsu Co. announced an innovative Building Management System (BMS) using web based HMI software from Broadwin Technology.

BMS is a combination of hardware and software that enable communication between a building's systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire-alarm, lighting control, and security systems.  More importantly, BMS also provides communication across multiple buildings, which allows for aggregation of multiple facilities to reduce maintenance costs and other significant reductions in operational costs.

Sumitomo provides a turnkey system including network equipment, controllers, engineering and technical support for facilities and building automation in Japan and Asia.

Web based BMS systems are supplied by Sumitomo Ideal Information Networking (siin)  of Tokyo, Japan.

"Building management companies, equipment manufacturers, energy suppliers and facilities engineers face increasing pressure to improve performance and reduce costs. These pressures are driving the development, adoption and use of networked Building Management Systems." said Frank Lin, president of Broadwin Technology Inc.  "The partnership with Sumitomo will offer a complete application solutions for Building Management Systems."

"Our customers require us to deliver highly reliable solutions through the integration of automation systems with advanced information technology," said Bryan Yu, director of Broadwin Technology. "BroadWin's WebAccess technology complements Sumitomo's building management systems with advanced software technology supporting web browsers and remote software administration.”

Using a standard Web-Browser, users can view and control automation equipment used in manufacturing facilities, industrial process plants and building automation systems. Unique to WebAccess, all configuration and deployment can be performed remotely through a standard web browser including IO configuration, graphics building and remote software administration.

WebAccess is available for desktop computers and laptops running Windows CE, 98, ME, 2000, 2003 and XP. Internet Explorer 6.0 supports all features of WebAccess.
